DO ANIMALS MEDITATE ?

Do animals meditate?  I was thinking about this, as very often my animals will join me in my quiet moments.  Maybe it’s we humans that have to relearn how to meditate, maybe our animal friends have had it right all along!! While animals don’t meditate in the same way humans do, they do exhibit behaviors that could be considered meditative or contemplative. Many animals engage in activities that promote relaxation, concentration, and a sense of calm, which are characteristics often associated with meditation. For example, certain animals, like cats, may spend extended periods grooming themselves, which can have a calming effect. Some animals engage in repetitive behaviors that seem to help them focus or enter a more relaxed state. Additionally, animals in the wild may engage in activities like sunbathing or resting in a quiet spot, which could be seen as a form of relaxation. It’s important to note that attributing human-like concepts directly to animals can be challenging, as their experiences and cognitive processes are different from ours. While animals may exhibit behaviors that share similarities with meditation, it’s not accurate to say that they engage in meditation in the same conscious and intentional way that humans do.  But, maybe it’s such a habit and way of being with them; that they have the edge on us. Just something to think...
